Tips for wearing men’s shoes

When you are wearing men’s shoes, whether they are walking shoes or sports shoes for men, there are a few unwritten rules that you must follow:

  • Your shoes should be a couple of shades darker than your pants
  • Your shoes should be the most pricey part of your wardrobe.
  • Do not wear socks with sandals.
  • Each summer, buy a new pair of flip flops.
  • When you wear sneakers with khakis you run the risk of looking older than you actually are.
  • Your socks should provide an ideal bridge between your socks and your pants.

  • The darker your suit, the darker your shoes.
  • No flip flops to work – unless your office allows it specifically.
  • Match your socks to your shoes. They can also be contrasting.
  • Shine your shoes well. If you cant do it get a shoe shiner. You will have great looking shoes and interesting company.
  • Always spend money on shoes rather than on your wardrobe.
  • Loafers match with just about anything you wear.
  • When in doubt , be conservative over edgy.
  • Always choose fit over mere style.
  • Cowboy boots don’t go with suits; unless of course, you are an honest to goodness cowboy.
  • Wingtips are in vogue again.
  • Make sure you have a nice pair of boots.
  • Your shoes should match your belt.
  • Replace your workout shoes every six months.
  • Don’t wear sandals if you have unattractive feet.
  • A nice pair of brown Oxfords will go with just about everything.
  • Splurge once a year on the pair of shoes you have been really wanting to buy.
  • Try out the new athletic shoe trends before actually training in them

One of the greatest dilemmas than men face is how to match men’s shoes with the correct pair of socks. Mismatched disasters occur all the time and should really be avoided. Getting dressed for that big day can really be easy.

  • When in doubt always match your socks to your pants. You will look your best 90 percent of the time if you follow this rule.
  • You shoes should be a natural bridge from your dress shoes to your pants. So if you are wearing black shoes wear brown socks and brown socks with brown shoes.
  • If you wear dark blue jeans and black boots , you might wear gray socks.

Make sure there is a nice consistent look from shoe to pant and you will always appear sharp and well dressed.
